Manuela Gianandrea is professor of Medieval Art History at the University of Rome La Sapienza She is curator of the Dominican Museum of Santa Sabina all’Aventino, Rome. She organized several international conferences (Fondi nel Medioevo 2013; L’apogeo di Ravello nel Mediterraneo 2015; Gaeta medievale e la sua cattedrale 2016; Pietro Toesca a Roma e la sua eredità 2017). Together with Eugenio Losardo and Federica Papi, she was a curator of the exhibition La lupa e la sfinge. L’Egitto a Roma dalla storia al mito (Rome, Castel Sant’Angelo, 2008). Manuela Gianandrea is the coordinator of the international project on the study and cataloging the artistic heritage of Santa Sabina all’Aventino, supported by the Order of Preachers. She is also the principal investigator of Research Council “Pietro Toesca a Roma e la sua eredità”, supported by MPI and Sapienza Università di Roma. She published studies on medieval Rome and Southern Italy. Her researches are mainly focusing on the reinterpretation of the artistic phenomena through the analysis of textual sources and the reassessment of traditional historiography.
